About Me
I am Kristen Markoplis, a fine art photographer with 20 years experience. Born and raised in New York City, I was introduced to photography in high school and immediately fell in love. I went on to study Fine Art Photography at the Art Institute of Philadelphia and at the International Center of Photography in New York. I have sold my work to private art collectors and Institutions in New York, Miami and Italy. I have been teaching for the past 5 years in Brooklyn schools and private classes.
This project of classes for kids was created thanks to the incredible experience with my own three children Aurelio, Livia and Christopher following me in my passion for photography. During this journey, I realized how much the art of photography is an exceptional tool in the development of creativity in children. The exploration to find the subject to photograph, the perfect light and the combination of colors is a great occasion for kids to connect with the world around them, with nature and with themselves. But also to enhance their observational skills following their own personal interests.
